Obituary

Judith "Judy" Drew, of York, Maine, died peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on June 28, 2025. Judy was born December 10, 1935, in Plymouth, MA to John Alander and Edna Davis, and was raised in nearby Kingston, MA. Judy attended Kingston High School and was active in many clubs and activities, including the school magazine and hockey. She was an outstanding swimmer and voted the 1952 Kingston Cranberry Queen. After graduating high school in 1953, Judy moved to Boston, MA, and later auditioned and went on to join the Sam Snyder's Water Follies in 1954-1955, travelling with the show throughout the United States and abroad, including Australia.

Judy eventually married Richard Burgess and moved to Santa Barbara CA where she became a mother to her three children, Pamela Burgess of York, ME, Beth (Burgess) Howell of Eliot, ME, and Ted Burgess of San Diego, CA. In 1983 Judy met the love of her life and became a loving wife to Dr. David Drew, and stepmother to Dr. Donald Drew of San Diego, CA, Mary Drew Bedrosian of San Diego, CA, Martha Mosier Lyford of Laguna Niguel, CA, Sara Drew Bartlett, of Las Vegas, NV, and James Drew of Las Vegas, NV.

Judy loved entertaining and spending time with her husband, David. Whether it was hosting family and friends at their home in La Mesa, California, boating at their cabin at Big Lake in Princeton, Maine, or enjoying their home in Southport, North Carolina, Judy and Dave truly led a full and joyful life surrounded by their friends and family. And always their beloved dogs would accompany them on their travels and adventures far and wide.

Judy loved being with people, whether it was visiting and cooking with family, just visiting at home sharing a glass of wine with those she loved. Even after having lived in many places throughout her life, Judy always felt a connection and strong love for Kingston and Plymouth, Massachusetts where she still has family and friends.

Judy is predeceased by her husband David, her daughter Beth Howell, and her brothers Alvin Alander and David Alander.

Judy leaves behind a large group of family and friends who will miss her dearly, including her son Ted Burgess, Esq. (Leanne), daughter Pamela Burgess (Nick), son-in-law Tom Howell; stepsons Dr. Donald Drew (Rose) and James Drew; stepdaughters Mary Drew Bedrosian (Peter), Martha Mosier Lyford (Tom), and Sara Drew Bartlett (Jeff); grandchildren Sarah Howell (Mike), Abigale Howell (Mat), Anna Houle, and Katherine Burgess; great-grandchildren Eloise Garofalo and Audrey Garofalo.
