Julia C. McGuire
November 24, 1919 – January 20, 2026
Julia C. McGuire, lovingly known to all as “Mama,” passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026, at the remarkable age of 106.Born on November 24, 1919, in Scotland, Julia came to the United States at just three years old, beginning a life story rooted in strength, resilience, and family. From those early years, she grew into a woman whose love would shape generations.
She married Harry Leonard McGuire of Boston, Massachusetts, and together they shared an extraordinary 77 years of marriage— a true love story defined by devotion, loyalty, and deep affection. Their bond was admired by all and remained unbreakable even after his passing.
Julia was the proud mother of 13 children:Robert McGuire (late wife Sheila McGuire), Linda McGuire (spouse Larry Rufener), Marilyn McClearn (spouse William McClearn), Kevin McGuire (spouse Joan McGuire), the late Judith McGuire, Diane Crowley (spouse Jack Crowley), Richard McGuire (spouse Jean McGuire), Karen Whitman (spouse Charles Whitman), Alayne McGuire, the late David McGuire,Leonard McGuire (partner Kathleen Maroney), Theresa McGuire, and Edward McGuire (Paula McGuire).
Through her children, Julia’s family grew into 29 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren — five generations tied together by her love.
Julia was known for her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit. She greeted everyone with her familiar, “Hi dear,” and always parted with her beloved words, “Bye for now, dear.” She had a way of making people feel instantly at home and deeply loved.
She loved card games, flowers, and reading, and found joy in life’s simple pleasures. Grace defined her — in her words, her actions, and the way she carried herself. She truly was the epitome of grace.
She remained sharp, joyful, and full of life until the very end. She was also a devoted New England Patriots fan, proudly cheeringthem on season after season. With the AFC Championship and Super Bowl approaching, her family takes comfort in knowing she’ll be watching from the best seat in the house.
Above all else, Julia’s love for her family was unmatched. She was the heart of her family — the matriarch whose presence
anchored five generations.
From a little girl arriving from Scotland at age three to the matriarch of five generations, Julia lived a life filled with love, devotion, and grace.
Bye for now, dear — until we meet again.
