Obituary

Julien Remi Primeau, 75, passed away peacefully at home on January 14th, surrounded by his loving family.

The youngest of six brothers, Julien was born to Edmond and Isabelle (Proulx) Primeau in Fitchburg, Massachusetts where he was raised. Julien graduated from Notre Dame High School and moved to Cape Cod in 1973 where he worked for many years at Cape Opticians in Hyannis.

Affectionately known as "Pep" by his family and close friends, Julien was a kind and generous person who went out of his way for others. Whether picking up a dinner check, helping to fix a car, or offering a hand with home repairs, he had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel supported and valued. His dry wit and warm presence brought joy to those around him.

Diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in his 50s, Julien faced the challenges of the illness with determination and grace, refusing to let it define him. For many years he was an active participant in Forte Fitness' Parkinson's Rock Steady Boxing therapy program in Hyannis, a community he cherished and where he formed many friendships. Julien was also a long time member of the Cape Cod Mustang Club and had a passion for classic cars, owning and refurbishing many over his lifetime.

He loved his travels to the Caribbean and Europe with Beverly, his soul mate, life long companion, and best friend. However, nothing brought them more joy than the summer months spent on the beaches of Cape Cod, surrounded by their grandchildren, family and close friends.

Julien was predeceased by his brothers: Ovide, Albert, Norman, Louis, and Rene, and his partner of over 50 years, Beverly Primeau, who passed away just six months earlier. He is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Seth) Cohen of New York City, and Rebecca (Jay) DeBettencourt of Sandwich, MA, four grandchildren, Julien (Lindsey) Collins, Jordan (Misa) DeBettencourt, Dylan DeBettencourt (Olivia Sampson) and Zaida Cohen, as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private celebration of life will be held to honor Julien on March 1st. For more information please contact Bartlett Funeral Home at 508-746-3456 or doug@bartlett1620.com.

In lieu of flowers, a donation in his honor may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation at www.michaeljfox.org.
