Karen E Charles, age 65 of Onset MA, passed away on Sunday December 13 th at Mass General Hospital in Boston. She was born March 29th , 1955 and is predeceased by her mother Janice Chandler, her stepfather Robert Chandler, and her father Albert Bratti. She leaves behind her loving husband, David Charles Sr. of Onset MA, her seven children-Bruce Bump of Brockton, MA, Brandi Stefan of Plymouth, MA, Branci Cheney of Lecanto, FL, David Charles Jr of East Wareham, MA, William Charles of New Bedford, MA, Rebecca Charles of Onset, MA, and Angela Charles of Plymouth, MA and her 19 beautiful grandchildren. Karen grew up in a household as an only child and transformed her life when she created a large, close, and loving family of her own. She often cared for her grandchildren and although a silent household was rare, she always expressed the fact that it just didn't feel right. She enjoyed her family and the constant sound of little feet running around and the sweet laughs of her grandbabies. Those who knew her, knew she was small in size but mighty. She showed much courage and strength and to her children she was their lifeline. She could do it all from baking and cooking huge meals, to sewing Halloween costumes, to painting houses and fixing cars. If any of us needed something fixed, we would always call Mom. Karen possessed one of the greatest gifts of all- a heart of gold. Although she gave birth to only 7 children she was like a mom and even referred to as "Mom" by many others. She would always be the first to help and give whatever she had and struggled with saying "no" to anyone. Karen enjoyed sitting outside and relaxing with friends and family in the backyard, listening to oldies music, and perfecting her garden. She loved collecting windchimes and little knick-knacks and figurines for her garden. She was always surrounded by beautiful flowers and trees and often spent her summers barefoot outside. Karen's family will hold a private memorial service in her honor on January 3 rd .
