IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen M
Halunen
September 15, 1940 – July 5, 2024
Otto Halunen, age 84 born in Middleborough, MA, left this world on Monday July 1st, 2024. His wife Karen Halunen, age 83 Born in Quincy MA, joined him on Friday July 5th, 2024.
Otto & Karen met as teenagers in South Carver and reunited years later to spend 48 happy years of marriage together.
Otto was proud to be a sharpshooter in the Marines and later went on to be a very talented stone mason, but before retiring he worked for the Duxbury School Department. Otto was always working on some kind of project, whether it was fixing his car or something around the house or laying a patio for one of his kids. It seemed there really wasn't anything Otto couldn't do.
Karen was a devoted wife and mother, always making sure Otto had his favorite meals, especially on his birthday. After her daughter Valorie became ill, Karen took care of her at home for as long as she could before sending her to the nursing home where she visited Valorie every day, reading to her and watching movies with her. After Karen retired from PartyLite, she kept in touch with the friends she made there and at Plymouth Five Cents Saving Bank, where she previously worked. She enjoyed monthly "lunches with the ladies".
Otto & Karen both worked hard to provide for their family & passed that work ethic on to their children, who all live successful lives.
Otto & Karen led a very simple, happy and loving life together & will be dearly missed. They leave behind their children, Desirée Cohen of Pocasset , Dean Halunen of Carver, Dawn Doyle of Plymouth, Danny Halunen of Plymouth, and granddaughter DeAnna Halunen of Carver.
Otto & Karen will be laid to rest together, along with their daughter Valorie Peabody (deceased 11/23/2013) at Union Cemetery in Carver. At their request there are no services.
