Obituary

Karl Irving Braun, Jr., 75, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, surrounded by his beloved wife and children.

He was the devoted husband to Lisa (Johns) Braun, whom he met in college, and has been married to for 52 years. He was born on March 6, 1949, in Brockton, MA, and grew up in Kingston, where he was known as "Skipper" to his immediate family. He graduated from Silver Lake High School and went on to earn his degree from Ithaca College, where he met the love of his life, Lisa. Following college they settled in Plymouth, MA.

Karl dedicated over 30 years to the Plymouth School System, where he was known and cherished as a physical education teacher and later as the athletic director. His unwavering commitment to the schools and his passion for sports earned him a place in the Plymouth Schools Athletic Hall of Fame. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Karl was all about family.

Besides Lisa, he is survived by their three children – Kristin DiObilda and her husband Pete of New York, New York, Kevin Braun and his wife Jaci of Sunnyside, New York, and Kenny Braun and his wife Julie, of Plymouth, MA. He adored his four grandchildren – Nora Alice DiObilda, Evan Daniel DiObilda, Matthew James Braun, and Amelia Grace Braun. His grandchildren lovingly called him "Pop Pop," and he cherished every moment spent spoiling them with treats and popsicles, especially at the ERBC. He is also survived by his brother Kenny Braun and wife Mary of Lutherville, MD and sister Kathy Braun of Venice, FL. Karl was preceded in death by his parents, Karl Sr. and Alice Braun. Family was at the center of Karl's world.

Karl was an amazing friend, neighbor, and part of the Plymouth community, always ready to lend a hand and brighten any room with his infectious sense of humor. He took immense pride in being a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend, always putting the well-being of his loved ones first. Karl's legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his memory will be a guiding light for his family and friends.
