Falmouth, Massachusetts - Karl Elsar Jurentkuff Jr., 94, of Falmouth, Massachusetts, formerly of Rowe, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully at Bourne Manor.

Karl was born in Clinton, Massachusetts, to Karl E. Jurentkuff Sr. and Ethel M. Jurentkuff (née Johnson) and was raised in Upton, Massachusetts. He graduated from the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, where he studied poultry farming before joining the United States Navy in 1952.

In 1953, Karl married the love of his life, Virginia Pearl Jurentkuff (née Scott). Together they built a loving home and raised three children. Karl proudly served four years aboard the USS Hunt (DD-674) before returning to civilian life to focus on his family.

Following his military service, Karl and Pearl settled in Rowe, where Karl began a distinguished career at the Yankee Atomic Nuclear Power Station. Through hard work and dedication, he advanced to the position of Chief of Operations. For years the plant operated on his Nuclear Operators license.

Karl and Pearl embraced life in Rowe and became deeply involved in the community. They were active members of their church and served on the school committee, while Karl also volunteered in numerous other capacities, including park commissioner, town moderator, part-time police officer, and many other civic and community activities. After 32 years with Yankee Atomic, Karl retired from the plant but continued serving the Town of Rowe as a part-time police officer until he and Pearl retired to their beloved summer home on Cape Cod in 2003.

Cape Cod held a special place in Karl's heart and became the setting for countless treasured family memories. Summers were filled with fishing trips, beach days, and family lobster feasts on the lawn. Karl and Pearl's cottage welcomed generations of family and friends throughout the year. Karl especially enjoyed quahogging, fishing from his boat, and sharing his love of the ocean with his grandchildren.

Karl was a devoted father to his three children: Stephen Jurentkuff (predeceased) and his wife, Kathy (née Ward) Jurentkuff, of Buckland, Massachusetts; Mark Jurentkuff and his husband, George Fitzgerald (predeceased), of Eastham, Massachusetts; and Nina Murphy (née Jurentkuff) and her husband, Colin Murphy (predeceased), of East Falmouth, Massachusetts.

He is also survived by his brother, Richard Jurentkuff, and his wife, Judith Jurentkuff, of Derry, New Hampshire, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Karl leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Jared "JD" Jurentkuff and his wife, Melissa Jurentkuff (née Arevalo); Melissa Jurentkuff; Emily Jurentkuff; Laurie Gatchell (née Murphy) and her husband, Eric Gatchell; and Andrew Murphy and his fiancée, Hannah Leddie. He was the proud great-grandfather of Emerson and Carmen Jurentkuff, and Grace and Claire Gatchell.

Karl was the steadfast patriarch of his family, a man of quiet strength, integrity, and unwavering devotion. His kindness, generosity, and love for his family and community will be remembered always. This special man will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.
