Katherine F. (Poch) Thomas was born October 20, 1932 as the middle child of seven to Elizabeth (Squibb) and Theodore Poch in Quincy, Massachusetts.
Kay was a graduate of No. Quincy High and Quincy City Hospital School of Nursing, she moved to Plymouth upon marrying in 1954. She worked as an RN for many years at Jordan Hospital and as a Silver Lake H.S. nurse later in her career. She served her community through active involvement with the American Legion Auxiliary and as a Lay Eucharistic Minister first at St. David's Episcopal in Halifax and later at Christ Church in Plymouth.
She is survived and mourned by: her youngest sister, Ms. Mary Jane Poch of Penacook, N.H.; her son, Max Paronich of Plymouth; daughter-in-law Sharon Paronich of Plymouth; daughter Patricia (Paronich) Iafrate and son-in-law Paul Iafrate of Orleans; beloved granddaughters Rebecca White of Medway, Paula Ribeiro of Chatham, and Alysa Iafrate of Dennis; treasured grandsons Max Paronich III of Plymouth, U.S. Navy Corpsman Ben Paronich, and Alex Iafrate of Orleans. She took great delight in her three great-grandchildren Madelyn, Mason, and Ava, and will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and cousins here in New England and in Wisconsin.
Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be from 9:30 – 10:30 am on Thursday, January 23rd. A funeral service will be held at Christ Church, at 149 Court Street, Plymouth at 11:00. Interment will follow at Massachusetts National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Kay's name to the Alzheimer's Association would be greatly appreciated.
