Obituary

Kathryn Cronin WWII Veteran Longstanding resident of Plymouth, Mass, passed away on February 6, 2015, age 93. Appreciated for her smile, kindness, and gentle nature by young and old alike. Known affectionately as Katie Cronin to many, mom and gram to her family. Kathryn grew up in Massachusetts and Connecticut with her parents, three sisters and brother. After graduating high school, she earned her R.N. degree and entered the Army during WWII as a nurse. After the war she flew with United Airlines as a stewardess. She then married her husband, Francis Cronin. From that point on she was mom, wife, and beloved community member. Before moving permanently to Plymouth, she traveled the world as the wife of a career Air Force Officer adding to her family. For many years she also worked at Plimoth Plantation during the 1970's and 80's. She leaves her five children, 9 grandchildren, her 3 beloved sisters, and many granddogs. She is predeceased by her husband of 51 years Francis Cronin, her parents, a brother Herbert. She leaves her sisters, Natalie Ferguson, Marion Cunningham, and Ruth Knight and their families; her children: Patricia Cronin and son Eric and wife Alison; Susan Cronin; Francis and wife Betty and their daughters Brienne and Sasha; Kevin Cronin and wife Karen and their children; and a daughter in West Virginia and her three children. Kathryn was longstanding member of the Second Church of Plymouth in Manomet, active member of her neighborhood, a charity fund raiser, supporter of the Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences, The Wildlands Trust, Heritage Plantation, Cranberry Hospice, and faithful patron of the Plymouth Farmer's Market at Plimoth Plantation, and an avid supporter of education, learning, and community good. A celebration of life will be hosted Saturday, February 21, 2-4pm, at Plimoth Plantation, Visitors Center, Gainsborough Hall. In Kathryn's memory, please consider donating to the The Wildlands Trust (http://wildlandstrust.org ), Manomet Center for Conservation Sciences, Cranberry Hospice of Plymouth, the Heritage Plantation, or the Plymouth Educational Foundation. Or enjoy a nice walk on the beach. Grateful thanks to all those at Golden Living Center, Cranberry Hospice and Prescribed Care who cared so well for Katie in her final months.
