Kathryn Ann Vest McCue, a longtime resident of eastern Massachusetts, died peacefully on March 19, 2024, of natural causes in Hingham. She was 88.

Kathy was born Feb. 1, 1936, in Rio Grande City, Texas, the daughter of the late Willie Fields Vest and Mary Alberta (Blackwell) Vest. She grew up in Dallas, was a 1954 graduate of South Oak Cliff High School and attended the Rutherford College School of Business in Dallas.

On December 23, 1954, she married Tommy Don Cowgill, who predeceased her in 2020. They had three children and were divorced in 1973. Kathy was also predeceased by her two brothers, Willie Fred "Bill" Vest and Stanley Joseph Kennedy.

After raising her children, Kathy had a long career as an administrative assistant, culminating in several years of service at the Nashua office of the state of New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.

Kathy is survived by her children: a son Terry Cowgill, his wife Laura and their family in Lakeville, Conn.; a daughter Robin Greland, her husband John and their family in Hanover, Mass.; and a daughter Leanne Cowgill of Dennis, Mass. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Brianne Greland; Hayley Greland; Roger Cowgill; and Ellen Cowgill.
