Obituary

Kent Vinton Pearce, age 79, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2020 after a short illness. Born & raised in Mansfield, MA to William Parker Pearce & Francess Ruth Foster Vinton Pearce. Kent lived a varied & colorful life. Serving in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He was a farmer, owning a farm in Kersey, CO. He was a retired electrician from IBEW Local #68. Kent owned Kent's Welding & Radiator Service for 38 years. Kent also had a passion for education. He served 20 years as a member of Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School Committee. Kent also served as an Engineer Training Office at Massachusetts Maritime Academy & a welding instructor. He served on the Board of Directors for the Cape Canal Chamber of Commerce. He was a lifetime member of the Wareham Elks. Known as "Captain Kent" to his family & friends. He was a Merchant Mariner & avid fisherman who loved spending time on the water. Kent carried himself with great character, honesty, sternness & sense of humor. He could be found at local coffee shops, drinking too many cups of coffee, doing SUDOKU, reading the newspaper, telling jokes & debating fishing techniques with anybody. Kent could hold a conversation with anybody. A loving man, he always greeted family with big hugs and kind words. He had a soft spot for dogs & babies. Often remarking on the joy of having his children & grandchildren snoozing on his chest. Kent also had a very direct way of always telling things, how they were, for better or for worse. He will be well remembered by all who crossed his path. Kent is survived by his wife, Janelle. His children, Jan Schmidt, Jennifer Lyn Matheson, Kim Harmer and William Pearce, their respective spouses & nine grandchildren. His sister, Lynn Kinder. He was predeceased by his brother Toby Parker Pearce. Due to Covid-19 pandemic the family has opted to hold a memorial of life at a later date. Kent will be properly interned with full military honors at Massachusetts National National Cemetery. Obituary lovingly written by the family of Kent Pearce
