IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Laura
Hurvitz
October 21, 1958 – July 28, 2025
Laura Pessa Hurvitz, 66, of Duxbury, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 28th, surrounded by the love of her family and close friends.
Born October 21, 1958, in Boston, Laura was the daughter of the late Sally and Richard Pessa. She was raised in a home full of laughter, style, and love — a foundation she carried into every chapter of her life.
Laura graduated from Suffolk University and went on to attend the Boston Architectural College, blending her eye for design with her entrepreneurial spirit. She founded The Fashion Office, producing fashion shows for iconic names like Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, and Henri Bendel. Her career later expanded into advertising as a Senior Account Executive with Foxhorn Partners, before she returned to her passion for aesthetics with the launch of Laura Hurvitz Interiors.
Her talent for design and deep knowledge of textiles led her to represent prestigious brands at the Boston Design Center, including Farrow & Ball and Pierre Frey, where she also served as the New England Representative for Pierre Frey, Paris. Whether designing a home, planning a runway, or curating a space, Laura brought elegance, creativity, and warmth to everything she touched.
Her truest joy and happiness came from gathering with family and friends, the beach in Duxbury, laughing on Cape Cod, and watching her granddaughters grow. Laura had an unmatched sense of humor and a fierce loyalty — but it was her extraordinary gift for connection that left a mark on everyone she met. From lifelong friends to complete strangers, people felt drawn to her warmth and wisdom. She was always talking with those she loved, offering advice, sharing laughs, and staying deeply involved in the lives of those she cared most about. She made people feel heard, seen, and cared for—always putting others before herself.
Laura is survived by her son, Jonathan Hurvitz, and his wife, Natacha Massih, of New York City; her son, Zachary Hurvitz, and his wife, Tiffany, of Windham, New Hampshire; her beloved granddaughters, Nora and Tessa Hurvitz; and her husband, Steve Hurvitz; She also leaves behind her brother, Philip Pessa, and his wife, Diane, of Centerville; her loving Aunt Jeanne and Uncle John Upton of Osterville; Aunt Marie Walsh and her daughter Catherine Conley and husband Matt of Hyannis Port; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored her.
Laura will be remembered for her impeccable taste, unwavering optimism, and the enormous love she gave so freely.
The family would like to thank the dedicated aides, nurses, and doctors who cared so deeply for Laura over the past three years.
