Martin, Lawrence P., age 71, of Plymouth, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2011. He was the son of Mary Julia "Jukie" (Brown) and (the late) Francis Martin. He was the loving partner, of 30 years to Linda Williams.
He was born and raised in Plymouth, graduating from Plymouth High in 1959. Lawrence was the starter on the varsity basketball team in high school. He was an avid pool expo player, playing against the famed Willie Mosconi and Nick Varner. He loved playing poker and going to Foxwoods. He was a self-taught chess player. What he enjoyed most in life was his family and friends.
In addition to his mother, Mary Julia, and his significant other, Linda, Lawrence leaves behind his step-sons, Brian Williams & Jennifer Boyd of E. Taunton, Joshua Williams & Kelly Barnicoat and Timothy Williams & MarieElana Bavin, all of Middleboro. He was the loving "puppa" to 9 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Manual & Doris Perry of Marina Del Ray, CA and his sister Janice & Benjamin Fernandes of Carver. He also leaves behind many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Lawrence "Marty" Martin.
Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett-Santos Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be on Monday, October 17 from 4-7PM. A funeral mass will be held at St. Peter's Church on Tuesday, October 18 at 10AM. Interment will at the Bourne National Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lawrence P. Martin Scholarship Fund, C/O Rockland Trust.
