IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leah Maitland
Cotton
September 14, 1925 – January 18, 2024
Leah Keever Cotton, 98, of Duxbury and Auburndale died peacefully on January 18. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-inlaw and friend.
Leah graduated from Walnut Hill School, Colby Jr. College, and the University of Vermont. She worked at Newton-Wellesley Hospital before she married Richard "Dick" Cotton, with whom she shared 67 happy years. They spent many summers at their home in Coddles Harbor, Nova Scotia, where they entertained family and friends and enjoyed the beauty and peacefulness of the area.
Leah taught Sunday School classes and volunteered on many committees at Pilgrim Church. She was a member and past president of the Duxbury Garden Club, Sew & Sews, Great Decisions Discussion Group, and the Investment Club.
Leah volunteered for over 25 years at the Talking Information Center recording nature articles to be played on the radio for the blind and visually impaired.
She was a lifelong learner, enjoyed reading, tennis, bridge, cooking, her many dogs, and cheering on the Celtics "her boys".
She is fondly remembered for being a devoted friend, for her kindness, patience, thoughtfulness, her wonderful sense of humor, for being welcoming, a good listener, and giving good advice.
Leah will be remembered by her family, Jeff Cotton (Vickie) of Clinton, CT, Cindy Orrick of Vero Beach, FL, Sandy Coburn (Paul McManus) of Wayland, MA, her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Mom, we will always save the tip of our buttercrunch ice cream cone for you!
In her memory, memorial contributions may be made to Pilgrim Church of Duxbury, 404 Washington St., Duxbury 02332 or a charity of your choice.
A celebration of life for both Leah and Dick will be held at the Pilgrim Church of Duxbury on Saturday, March 23, 11:00 am.
