Leonard Ernest Riel Jr., passed away peacefully on January 11,2025, at the age of 85, after a short battle with cancer.

Leonard was born in Grafton, ND. He lived in many areas throughout the country before meeting his beloved wife, Ellen, in Sacramento, CA. Together they made their way to the East Coast and eventually Cape Cod, MA where they were married in August of 1998. They have lived in their home in South Dennis, MA since March of 1999.

Affectionately known as "Bud" to family, friends, and neighbors, he was always generous with his time and energy to lovingly support anyone needing a helping hand. He was also known for his quick wit, infectious smile, and his devotion to all the animals he loved, and cared for during his life, whether they were his own or others.

"Bud" is survived by his wife, Ellen, of 26+ years, his brothers, Jack Reil and Giles Jerome "Jerry" Reil (Kathy), daughters, Becky Saragosa (Joseph) and Connie Day (James), his grandchildren, Joseph Jr. "Ace" (Megan), Ryan (Lisa), Joshua (Jennifer), Tiffany (Tieg), Jorden, Jessica (Dennis), and Travis (Emily), his great grandchildren, Kora, Roman, Ryan, Makayla, Benjamin, Kylie, Aidyn, Masyn, and Madasyn, His nieces and nephews, Jack Jr., Kathy, Kim, Kelly, Jeremy, Eric, John, Amy, and Brian.

He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard E. Reil Sr. and Mrytle Stensried-Reil, his brother, Richard, his beloved son, Leonard E. Reil III "Len", his great-grandson, Ezekiel, and his nephew, Jason.

Along with his own family, "Bud" was dedicated to and beloved by Ellen's family, most notably his sisters-in-law Linda Tocco and Debbie Cubillos, and was "Uncle Bud" to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, including his niece Michelle Tocco with whom he forged a very special relationship with from the time she was a young child.

"Bud" was truly a hardworking, good man who will be forever loved and missed.

A "Celebration of Life" event, to honor "Bud", will be held at a later date to be announced.
