Luise Cuneo (née Mueller)
1938 – June 4, 2025
Luise Cuneo, née Mueller, peacefully passed away in Plymouth, Massachusetts, on June 4, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by three generations of her family. She was 86 years old.
Born in 1938 in Hohenfels, Germany, Luise met and married Edmund Cuneo of Duxbury, Massachusetts, in 1960. The following year, she left her home country to begin a new life in the United States, making Duxbury her beloved home for over six decades. There, she dedicated her life to raising her three daughters—Evi, Joanne, and Heidi.
Luise was a devoted mother to Evi Brandt of Plymouth, Joanne Cuneo of Duxbury, and Heidi von Stein of Düsseldorf, Germany. She was a proud grandmother to Evi's children, Courtney, Brittany, and Matthew, as well as Heidi's twins, Alexandra and Konstantin. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Brittany's children, Brianna and Chase, and Courtney's daughters, Riley and Hadley.
A talented seamstress and gifted knitter, Luise found great joy and companionship at the Duxbury Senior Center, where she spent many happy hours creating beautiful works by hand and sharing laughter with friends.
Summer was always Luise's favorite time of year. It brought family gatherings filled with warmth, laughter, and tradition: visits from Heidi and her children, Konstantin and Alexandra; birthday celebrations for Brittany, Hadley, and Riley; and treasured gatherings at Courtney's home in Marston Mills. These summer get-togethers often included her dear friend David Giordano, whose kindness and companionship she deeply appreciated.
When Luise gave up driving, her daughter Joanne became her dedicated chauffeur, allowing Luise to maintain her outings around town and shopping trips. True to her independent nature, Luise often wandered away in stores, seeking whatever had captured her interest—while Joanne searched the aisles to track her down.
Every year, Luise and David took a trip to North Conway, New Hampshire. The quiet charm and scenery of this mountain town reminded her of her Bavarian heritage and also gave her a deep sense of tranquility and spiritual connection. There, surrounded by nature, she felt closest to God.
Luise was a woman of quiet faith and constant prayer. She carried her family in her heart each day and lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and generosity. A woman of God in life, she now rests with Him in peace.
A private funeral will be held in accordance with the family's wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Beth Israel Deaconess Plymouth would be appreciated.
