Obituary

Marcus B. Ford, a lifelong resident of Pembroke, passed away at home Sept. 6, 2011, at the age of 80. He was the son of the late Arthur B. and Mildred (Dunn) Ford. Marcus served in the Navy during the Korean War, returning to operate Bryantville Auto Sales, the family owned business. He was a past Commander of the American Legion Post 143, and a charter member of the Hanson A.A. He was most proud of his 44 year service to the town of Pembroke, first as a call firefighter, later becoming a permanent firefighter, retiring as Captain/EMT in 1994. With the recent dedication of the Marcus B. Ford Park, he was honored for his continued service on the Pembroke Conservation Commission from 1993 to present. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Janet (Racicot); his four children and their families, Shelley Loring of Kingston her husband Douglas, and their children, Jason, Andrew and Allison; Mark Ford of Plympton and his children, Alexandra, Sophia and Marcus II, Steven Ford of Halifax and his children, Jennifer, Jeffrey, Amie and Jonathan; and his daughter, Lynn Ford of Pembroke. He is also survived by four great-grandchildren, Kailee, Patrick, Cody and Anna. He was the brother of the late Betty (Ford) Schell. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Bryantville Methodist Church, 546 Mattakeesett St., Bryantville. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pembroke Fire Department Rescue Fund, 172 Center St., Pembroke, MA 02359, or to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Suite 326, Plymouth, MA 02360.
