Marie Joanne Bell (Ainslie)

December 22, 1943 – November 8, 2025

Born in Buffalo, New York, Marie was raised in Cohasset, Massachusetts, and later settled in Plymouth, where she married and lovingly raised her family.

Marie was a welcoming, cheerful, and loving presence — everyone wanted to be around. Her home and heart were always open to family and friends. She loved working on her home inside and out, spending countless hours building beautiful gardens and transplanting flowers and plants literally everywhere.

Marie was the neighborhood mom — the problem solver, the hairdresser and perm specialist, the fixer of everything through sewing and crafting. And of course, she shared her love of the beach, spending countless hours tanning and searching for sea glass with her children and their friends.

Marie also had a deep love of all animals, from owning and caring for her own horse to taking in every stray animal that needed a home. In her later years, her beloved German Shepherds, Sheba and Natasha, were her loving protectors and constant companions.

Marie is survived by her children: Jeffrey Bell and wife Maryann Bell of Marshfield, Michael Bell of Sandwich, and Teresa (Terri) Bailey and husband Steven Bailey of Plymouth; and nine grandchildren — Michael Bell Jr., Ryan Bell, Ben Bell, Casandra Bell, James Bell, Brian Bell, Jocelyn Bailey, Wade Bailey, and Charlotte Bailey.

Marie created beautiful memories for her children filled with love and patience, mixed in with humor and a splash of sass.As her family continued to grow, Nonna loved her grand-babies dearly — spoiling them with endless hugs, kisses, laughter, and love.

She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Winnifred Ainslie and daughter-in-law Jayne Bell.

Marie is also survived by her brothers: Wayne Ainslie and wife Debra Ainslie (Plymouth), Gary Ainslie and wife Toni Ainslie (Norwell), and David Ainslie and wife Doreen Ainslie (New Zealand).

A service will be held at Bartlett Funeral Home on Monday, November 17th, from 10 AM to 12 PM.

Marie will be remembered for her humor, strength, kindness, honesty, and boundless love— a legacy that will live on through her family.
