Obituary

Marion “Marnie” Costa

Marion “Marnie” (Longever) Costa, 79, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, after courageously battling dementia. Born on December 19, 1946, in Plymouth, she was the beloved daughter of the late Francis and Marion (Bennett) Longever and the wife of the late Colin F. Costa (AKA Happy Harry).

Marnie leaves behind her loving daughters, Erin (Costa) Leone and her husband, Bruno, of Randolph, and Jill Costa of Plymouth. She was the proud and cherished grandmother of Colin B. Costa of Plymouth. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Coffin of Duxbury; her brother, William Longever of Marshfield; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, to whom she was a very “special” aunt. She was predeceased by her brother Stephen Longever; her sister Patricia Nee; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Coffin.

Although Marnie made her home in Middleboro and West Palm Beach, she always considered Plymouth her true home. A graduate of Plymouth-Carver High School, Class of 1965, Marnie was known for her kindness, compassion, and generous spirit.

Marnie embraced life with a wild sense of humor, laughter, and adventure. Her love of travel carried her around the world while working aboard cruise ships in her younger years, creating stories and memories that she enthusiastically shared with family and friends. Throughout her life, she also worked at Jordan Hospital, Ernie’s Restaurant, and later earned her Certified Nursing Assistant certification at the age of 50 — proving it is never too late to follow a new path. In her 60s, she worked as a barista at Starbucks, where her friendly smile touched coworkers and customers alike.

She had a gift for making people feel welcomed and loved, opening both her heart and her Florida home to family and friends throughout the years. She was always with a camera, making memories.

A compassionate caregiver by nature, Marnie devoted much of her life to helping others through volunteer work at hospitals and shelters and by delivering meals to those in need. Her love for pets, gardening, and “farm life” brought her tremendous joy.

She most enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, watching live music, dancing, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. She was also a grateful Friend of Bill W. for 36 years and a member of the Easy Does It Club in West Palm Beach.

Her family finds comfort in imagining her reunited in heaven with the beloved family and friends who have been waiting for her, including her precious dog, Becky. We know she is with our passed loved ones... Go be a butterfly.

Visiting hours will be held at Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court St., Plymouth, MA, on Monday, May 18, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Church, 86 Court St., Plymouth, MA, on Tuesday, May 19, at 11:00 a.m. (guests are requested to meet at the church).
