Marshall Frederick Reilly, 86, of Centerville, Massachusetts, passed away on June 5, 2026, at Falmouth Hospital.
Born and raised in Attleboro, Massachusetts, from an early age, he loved sports, especially playing football and basketball throughout his youth. His athletic talent earned him a place at Notre Dame, where he played as a halfback.
Marshall proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he built a career and worked with JTEC. Marshall lived life with enthusiasm. He was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them smiling. Whether he was at the beach, cheering on one of his favorite teams, or enjoying a meal at Tomatoes, Baxter's, Five Bays Bistro, Lamberts, Panera, or The Daily Paper; he was happiest when surrounded by people. His friends were an important part of his life, and he treasured the many friendships he built over the years. Marshall met Saunie Chase at Four Seas Ice Cream & their young romance blossomed into marriage, and together they welcomed their two daughters, Kim and Heather. Although their marriage later ended, they shared many cherished memories.
Marshall also shared a special and loving relationship with his long-time companion, Linda Porto, who brought him much happiness in his later years. He adored his beloved dog, Irish, who was his constant companion on countless walks and hikes.
Marshall loved being active. He enjoyed skiing with the Cape Cod Ski Club, hiking, playing sports, and spending time outdoors. Watching a game, talking sports, and celebrating a victory with friends were among his favorite.
He is survived by his daughters, Kim (Bruce Bowen) and Heather Reilly; his brother, William J. Reilly Jr. (Katie) several nieces and nephews and a cousin. He is also predeceased by his brother, Richard Reilly; his sister-in-law, Gretchen Reilly; his uncle Fred Marshall (Ellie) and his nephew, Geoff Reilly.
Those who knew Marshall will remember his infectious smile, quick wit, generous heart, and remarkable ability to make people feel welcome.
He loved deeply, laughed often, and lived life on his own terms. He will be profoundly missed, forever remembered, and always loved by his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4p-7p on Monday, June 29th at Chapman Funerals & Cremations, 3778 Falmouth Road, Marstons Mills. Burial will be held at 11:15am on Tuesday, June 30th in the National Cemetary in Bourne
