Obituary

Martha (Marty) E Rowe, nee Rubino of West Harwich, passed away peacefully under the compassionate care provided by the staff at McCarthy Care Center, surrounded by loving family.

Marty was born on May 8, 1936 in Rutland, VT. She was the beloved daughter of the late Dr. Bernard and Helene (Higgins) Rubino, better know as Tene and Ben. She spent her childhood years in Newfane, VT with her fun and loving cousins before moving to Athol, MA. She graduated from Cushing Academy, Ashburhnam, MA and Centenary University, Hackettstown, NJ. She raised her three children in Westminster, MA and spent over 20 years working as a special needs aide for the CAPS Collaboritive School, Gardner, MA.

Marty is survived by her daughter Deane Cole of Somerville, MA and son Chris Rowe and his wife Heather of Eastham, MA. She was the proud grandmother of Ross, Mitchell, Candice and Randi. She is predeceased by her daughter Dana Rowe.

Marty truly enjoyed her time at the beach. Every sunny Summer day (or not) she'd get her chores done then head up to Pleasant Road Beach to spend the afternoon with her beach family, sitting on the same left side of the beach for over 50 years. She also spent many years as a volunteer at The Family Pantry of Cape Cod, and looked forward to the post work Thursday night dinners with the other volunteers.

Always ready to head out on an adventure, she enjoyed travel, movies, theater, shopping and dining out. She could tell you which restaurant had the best bolognese. Marty was an avid reader and lover of books, and had amassed a mini library which she shared with friends. She was also a great lover of animals, especially dogs. She raised several of her own and took care of many friends and family's dogs over the years. Her furry friends could count on getting a treat when visiting Hudson Lane.

A private burial will take place in late Spring in Athol, MA followed by a Celebration of Life at Cape Cod. More details to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: The Family Pantry- 133 Queen Anne Road, Harwich, MA. 02645,
