Mary Susan
Mcnerney
May 14, 1945 – July 11, 2025
Plymouth, MA – Susan McNerney, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, nurse, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2025, at the age of 80.
Born on May 14, 1945, Susan dedicated her life to caring for others. A proud graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in Hartford, Connecticut (Class of 1966), she served her community as a Registered Nurse for 40 years at Jordan Hospital in Plymouth, Massachusetts. Her compassion, strength, and dedication touched countless lives throughout her long and distinguished career.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband, James McNerney. She is survived by her loving children, Hoby, Kara, and Colleen, and her cherished grandchildren, Grace and James Foresteire. Also survived by her 6 siblings Jimmy Hennegan, Patty Hennegan, Charlie Hennegan, Charlotte Hennegan, Nancy Hennegan and Robert Hennegan.
Susan found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Known for her deep love of family, she found her greatest happiness in spending time with those she cared about most. Her kitchen was the heart of her home — filled with the delicious aromas of her cooking, the warmth of her smile, and the sound of laughter shared over meals. She had a gift for making everyone feel welcome, and her recipes and traditions will be cherished for generations.
She also had a passion for shopping — always with an eye for the perfect gift or just something to brighten the day. Whether it was preparing a feast or finding something special for someone she loved, she gave generously and wholeheartedly.
She loved spending time with her family and friends at the Plymouth Yacht Club, where she was a familiar and warm presence. She enjoyed her time with the Plymouth Gardening Club and fundraising for the Polar Plunge. A devout member of Saint Mary's Parish, Susan's faith was a guiding light throughout her life.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. A wake will be held on Thursday, July 17, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will follow on Friday, July 18, at Saint Mary's Church in Plymouth, 313 Court Street.
