Michael Angelo Belmont, 69, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on October 4, 1955, to the late Anthony and Beatrice Belmont.

Michael grew up in Middleboro, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Middleboro High School. A talented athlete and scholar, he went on to attend Northeastern University on a football scholarship, earning both his bachelor's and master's degrees. His love for the game continued after college as he played semi-professional football with the Middleboro Cobras.

Michael dedicated his life to public service. He began his law enforcement career with the Middleboro Police Department and later moved to Plymouth in 1997 to join the Plymouth Police Department. There, he rose through the ranks as sergeant, lieutenant, and eventually captain. After retiring from Plymouth, he continued serving as a sergeant with the Simmons College Police Department in Boston. He later worked at Draper Laboratories and the MITRE Corporation, continuing to apply his leadership and dedication to public safety and innovation.

Known for his devotion to family, Michael cherished time spent with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Papa." He enjoyed family trips to Florida, Sunday gatherings, and watching football.

Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Belmont; his daughter, Maria Belmont; his son, Michael Anthony Belmont; and his five cherished grandchildren: Cammy, Max, Dominic, Clark, and Niomi. He also leaves behind his brothers, Anthony Belmont and Mark Belmont, along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Funeral Mass to celebrate Michael's life will be held on Saturday, October 4, at St. Peter's Church at 11:00 am in downtown Plymouth. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and honor the life of a man who lived with service, strength, and love.
