Obituary

Michael Angelo Dillon, 71, passed away peacefully at home on June 22 in East Falmouth, MA.

A lifelong Democrat, Mike was a firm believer in equality. He loved a good debate, but you weren't often changing his mind. Mike was a great storyteller and always quick with a joke, he was able to laugh at himself and others equally. He always found time for his family and made it a priority to be there for his grandchildren. He was a huge fan of dogs, the Beatles, Star Trek, the Red Sox, and square-cut pizza.

Born in Oxford, England, to James Joseph Dillon and Katherine Demetrulias Dillon, Mike grew up in Springfield, MA, graduating from classical high school and later raising his children Julie, Chris, and James. He was a proud father and a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren, William, Lily, Jack, and Isaac.

Mike was a retired union sprinkler fitter (Local 669) for 30 years and spent many years as a jack of all trades in Massachusetts and Texas. Mike was a proud, hardworking man who loved to refinish furniture and enjoyed his stamp collection, a good wager, and, even more so, the winning.

He is survived by his sister Patricia McCally, his brother Donald Dillon, his sons Chris and James Dillon, his daughter Julie Dillon, his former wife Annette Dillon, his current partner Donna Ibanez, and his beloved dog Max. He also leaves behind cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his mother and father, brother Ronald Dillon, sister Kathy Abdoo, brother James Dillon, and much-loved nephews Ahmed Abdoo and Jim Dillon.

A celebration of life in Mike's honor will take place in August for family and friends, with details to follow.
