Michael Dana Mersey age 50. died suddenly at his home in Dartmouth, MA, on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Born in Fall River on July 2, 1960, he was the son of Joan Dormer-Deaner of Florida and the late Peter Mersey. He attended Bishop Connelly High School and graduated from Stamford High School in Stamford, CT. He was a graduate of U. Mass, Dartmouth. At the time of his death, Mr. Mersey was Senior Project Manager of Certapro Painters of Fairhaven, Mass. Prior to that he owned and operated the Basic Paint Job Co. of Dartmouth. Mike was an avid reader of history, and an ardent student of WW II. For the past several years he was active in collecting oral histories from veterans of the war with the intent of publishing a compilation of their experiences. He loved boating and fishing and taking his daughter to visit Battleship Cove. He is survived by his wife Julie Domingues (Juzyk) Mersey, daughter Catherine Elizabeth, mother, step father John Haydn Deaner, aunts Ruth Dormer, Ruth Bigelow and Janet Harrington; cousins Robert Dormer, Paul Dormer, Ann Dormer Hussey, Bill Bigelow, Deborah Bigelow, Phillip Harrington, Stephen Harrington, Paula Harrington, Shelly Harrington Forrester, and Kara Harrington Deedy. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Saturday, Oct. 9 at The United Parish of Fall River, 745 Wilson Rd. Relatives and friends are welcome.
