OLSON MIRIAM MELTZER, Born to Jacob and Rebecca Meltzer on December 24, 1933, in the Bronx, NY, Miriam Meltzer Olson died, peacefully in her sleep, on January 22, 2014 at her home in North Truro, Massachusetts after suffering for many years with Alzheimer's disease. An accomplished and passionate Social Worker, Miriam's professional years included work at Yale Psychiatric Institute and Colombia University and teaching at Fordham, then Temple University in Philadelphia. She graduated from the City College of New York, then received her Master's degree from Case Western Reserve in Cleveland and her Doctorate from Hunter College in Manhattan. A Fulbright Scholar, her professional publications include essays on women's health and women in social work and an edited book, Women's Health and Social Work: Feminist Perspectives. Predeceased by her sister Cecile Meltzer, Miriam is survived by her husband Toby Olson, her two sisters, Evelyn Stark (her husband Melvin) and Betty Meltzer, and numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
