Obituary

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Monica Ann McPhee Holmes Hart, who died peacefully at home in Pembroke, Massachusetts, on December 21, 2024, after a protracted illness. She was 66 years old.

Born in Arizona to Harry John McPhee Jr. and Helen Cambell McDowell McPhee, Monica lived a life filled with warmth, laughter, and a deep love for those she held dear. She spent most of her life in Massachusetts, where she developed a special affection for the ocean, the changing seasons, and the community of friends and family who were fortunate enough to know her. She also lived for a time in California, where she reveled in sunshine, good company, family and the beauty of the West Coast.

Monica was known for her child like spirit and her playful sense of humor—many will remember her infectious laugh and her ability to brighten any room with her silliness. At home, she found joy in creating—whether it was crafting handmade gifts, coloring, or simply enjoying the simple pleasures of music, cocktails, and time spent with her beloved dogs. She had an adventurous streak, too, relishing both spontaneous road trips and international travel, always eager to explore new places and share experiences with those she loved.

Professionally, Monica was a respected member of the insurance industry, holding licenses in multiple states. She was known for her dedication and kindness she brought to her work.

Monica is survived by her son, Henry L Holmes III of Massachusetts; her brothers, James William McPhee of Colorado and Stephen Michael McPhee of Texas; her sister, Patricia Marie McPhee of Massachusetts; as well as by nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends across Massachusetts, California, Colorado, Texas and Washington. She was preceded in death by her brother Harry J McPhee III and her parents.

Monica's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, remembered not only for her humor and warmth but for her spirit. She will be deeply missed.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
