Obituary

Nancy Corcoran, a long time resident of Plymouth and Scituate, passed away on December 15, 2023 after a long illness, at her home with family. Nancy was a loving sister, aunt and great aunt, an artist, gardener and sailor with many friends. She was well known in the Plymouth community.

She grew up in Scituate, graduated from Scituate High School and from Garland Junior College and attended Colby College. She was a life long sailor, loved her beetle cat and was often seen on Scituate Harbor sailing her boat. She also worked at the Scituate police department and town hall for many years.

Nancy was an accomplished artist in many mediums. Her early American stenciling on boxes, trays and furniture received recognition in publications such as Early American Life and she was a member of the Historical Society of Early American Decorators where she was best known for her pen and ink designs on wood, won awards for her work, and taught classes on this design and medium. She was an expert on the practice and past time of Victorian ladies of designing and making artistic reproductions from 18th and 19th century English designs including those modified to look like work on ivory.

She was also one of the embroidery artists who worked on the Plymouth Tapestry panels for the Pilgrim Hall Museum to commemorate the 400th anniversary of Plymouth Colony's founding. Her love of design carried over to her gardens where she was very happy spending hours nurturing her flowers and plants.

Nancy will be deeply missed by her sisters Penelope C. Decker of Ormond Beach, Florida, H. Jane Olsson of West Newbury, Massachusetts and Lynda C. Ketcham of Estero, Florida and their families including several nieces and nephews and grand-nephews. Precious memories of her love, kindness and thoughtfulness will be treasured by all who loved her.

A Celebration of Nancy's Life will be held at Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth, MA 02360 on Saturday, January 27, 2024, from 2:00 - 4:00PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Cranberry Hospice of Plymouth, 36 Loring Blvd., Plymouth, Massachusetts 02360
