Obituary

KINGSTON - Nancy Bartlett Delaney of Kingston gently passed away in her home with family on October 23rd at the age of 88, the result of complications from a stroke suffered in July. She was the beloved wife of Dr. Raynald J. Delaney, who preceded her in death in 1955. She is survived by her loving children, Dr. Mark F. Delaney and wife, Janet Delaney of Pagosa Springs, CO, and Phillip Bartlett Delaney of Niantic, CT. She is also survived by her four beloved granddaughters, Erica, Rachel, and Michelle Delaney, and Shannon Baca, and her cherished great grandson Devon Devora, all of Albuquerque, NM. Nancy was born July 2, 1926 in Plymouth, the only child of Herbert K. Bartlett, long time Plymouth Town Clerk, and Elizabeth (Wirtzberger) Bartlett. She graduated from Plymouth High in 1944, and went on to receive a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree at Rhode Island School of Design. She married Ray and spent 4 exciting years in Europe while he served a tour in the US Airforce. They returned with two toddlers in tow and settled in Hyannis. After the untimely death of her husband, Nancy went back to school, got her teaching certificate and became the mainstay of the Silver Lake High Art program, teaching for over 22 years. She was involved in the local Civil Defense program and could always be seen helping at the polls during election time. Always physically active throughout her life, she sailed, race-walked, learned to ride horseback, started skiing at 55, and was last seen making turns on the Colorado ski slopes at over 85 years of age. A private burial will be at Vine Hills cemetary with interment next to her husband Ray.
