Octavio V. Pestana, age 66 of Plymouth, MA died unexpectedly on Sunday, November 29, 2009. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Maria (Ponte) Pestana. He also leaves behind his son Marco Pestana, daughter Rosemary Pestana, future son-in-law, Daniel Perez and his only granddaughter Gabrielle Pestana. He is survived by three siblings in Portugal, many sister and brother-in-laws and nieces and nephews. He is the son of the late Jordao and Maria (Pacheco) Pestana of Portugal. Octavio immigrated to the United States from Portugal in 1981 where he has resided in Plymouth with his family since. Octavio was a dedicated husband, father and worker and will be remembered for his love of helping others. He worked for MIJA Industries as a machine operator for 25 years and has been retired for the last four years. He was an avid soccer fan and his favorite team was Sporting from Portugal. He loved to cook and had a passion for gardening and outdoor activities. Funeral arrangements will be made by the Bartlett-Garrity Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be on Friday, December 4 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. A mass of Christian burial will be at St. Mary's Church, Plymouth on Saturday, December 5 at 10:00 A.M. Interment will follow at Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
