Swales, Philip, "Fuffa" 74, of Plymouth, passed away at home on November 17th, surrounded by family. He was born in Plymouth, the son of the late Ruth (Gardner) and Edwin Swales.
Philip grew up in Plymouth, attending Plymouth schools. He joined the Army during the Vietnam era as a heavy vehicle driver trainer. After being discharged from the Army he came home and started driving trucks for a living, working for many companies, including KingsTown Trucking, All Site Excavating/Mulligan Homes, Taylor Made Contracting and eventually finishing his career with Richmonds, Inc.
Fuffa loved hunting deer in Maine, driving, plowing, watching drag racing and playing cards with the "Almeida's crew". Most importantly he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Fuffa also enjoyed going out to breakfast with his grandson and attending his grandson's football and baseball games.
Fuffa leaves behind his two children; Philip G. Swales, Jr and wife Coreen of North Port, FL, and Stacie Liberatore and husband Arthur of Plymouth. He leaves behind his beloved grandsons; Philip (PJ) Swales & Patrick Swales of FL, Arthur (AJ) Liberatore, and Ryan Liberatore of Plymouth. He also leaves behind one great-grandson, Philip (JP). He is also survived by his siblings, Jane Crosby of Middleboro, Nancy Nickerson of Plymouth and Edward Swales of WA, and JoAnne Swales of Lakeville. He is also survived by his longtime partner Claire Power and lifelong best friend, Stevie Almeida.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 20th from 4:00-7:00. A graveside service will be held at Vine Hills Cemetery on Monday, November 21st at 11:00.
