IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Allen
Blanchard
March 5, 1951 – November 21, 2023
Richard A. Blanchard (Dickie), 72, of Plymouth passed away on November 21, 2023. Born on March 5, 1951 in Avon, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Warren and Eleanor (Nicoli) Blanchard, and brother of the late John Blanchard.
Dickie leaves behind his beloved wife, Cindy, their son, Trevor Jones, daughter-in-law, Anne Jones, and the absolute lights of his life, his granddaughters, Lyla and Thea Jones. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
He graduated from the Blue Hills Regional Technical School where he excelled in the craft of woodworking, which prepared him for an over 50 year career as a proud and skilled carpenter, or as he would say, "bangin' nails". He was extremely proud of the work that he did, and on rides around town, would often point and say, "I built that house!".
Dickie enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching "the game", drinking coffee "down the waterfront", working in the yard and "down the garage". His favorite time of day was early in the morning before everyone was up and out. He liked to watch the sun come up, and look out at the boats and watch the fish jump in the harbor. More than anything in the world, he loved spending time with Lyla and Thea who lovingly referred to him as "Grampz". As long as they were happy, Grampz was happy.
For most of his life, Dickie lived in North Plymouth where he made many lifelong friends whom he cherished very dearly and considered family. He often told stories of "hangin' on the steps", going to the beach, fishing off the jetty, and loved going to the Holy Ghost Festa in the summer for a linguica sandwich and malasadas.
North Plymouth was the center of his universe, and he loved the life that he built there. Anyone whose life he touched in any way, knows just how special a person Dickie Blanchard was. He always wanted to help and would do anything for you that he could. Before he would leave, he would always ask you if you needed anything, and part with a heartfelt, "take cayah (care)" in such a way that you knew he really meant it. No matter who he was to you, he was the best and will be greatly missed.
A graveside service will be held on December, 8th, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth, MA.
