Miller, Richard Frank, of Sagamore Beach, fell asleep in death on October 7, 2015 after 99 years of life. He was born in Norwalk, CT, the son of the late Frank and Catherine Miller.
Dick's life was full of many happy memories, experiences and stories. He attended Bridgeport Engineering Institute; was employed by Remington-Dupont as a process engineer and Remington-Rand as a tool designer. In 1953, Dick joined International Business Machine Corporation as a project engineer in Poughkeepsie, NY. Dick's happiest years were with his beloved wife, May, of 72 years. May passed away in 2011; and together they will be remembered for their hospitality and exquisite cooking. Visiting May and Dick was most enjoyable. Dick's sense of humor was great, but together with May, even greater.
Dick retired to Sagamore Beach in 1972 after annually vacationing since 1953. Soon after, Dick became a real estate broker and builder before building his own home along Sagamore Beach. He continued to stay busy pursuing many of his talents and interests. Amongst his favorites were fishing, lobstering, gardening, drawing, woodworking and cooking with May. Wherever he went, he put much effort into being a good neighbor and maintaining friendships. He loved sharing from his garden, taking vacationers fishing and lending a hand.
Dick is survived by Barbara Miller of NYC, Mary Melville of Hyde Park, NY, Richard Miller, Jr. of Salt Point, NY and Susan Westgate of Sagamore Beach, MA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Memorial service and interment will be private.
