Obituary

Richard J. Moriarty( Rick ) was a devoted husband to his wife of over 60 years, Karen, their bond shaped by humor, independence and a deep caring for one another. He said every meal was the best he had ever had - a reflection of his appreciation for food and his love for her.

A proud graduate of New York university, Rick built a successful career as the founder of Minuteman Mortgage in Shrewsbury , Massachusetts where his work ethic and integrity left a lasting impact. Earlier in his career, he took pride in the redevelopment of Fitchburg, Massachusetts, reflecting his commitment to building and improving communities. Rooted in his Irish immigrant family background, he believed deeply that education and hard work were the foundation for opportunity, something each generation owed to the next.

A former football player at Arlington High School and in college, Rick carried a lifelong dedication to physical fitness. He completed the Boston Marathon and, later in life, could be found in a Pilates class -often the only man in the room - enjoying both the challenge and the camaraderie.

He had a deep love of golf, highlighted by a cherished hole-in-one at Pinehills. Many of his happiest moments were spent on the course, often followed by his favorite treat: an ice cream float. His love of ice cream was well known.

Rick was his daughters' biggest fan. He never missed a field hockey game or a race, always there with encouragement, pride, and an unwavering belief, inspiring his daughters to be strong, independent women - not through pressure but through steady confidence.

Some of his favorite times were spent in Cummaquid at the Cape Cod Village with dear friends enjoying a bonfire, relaxing on the deck with a beer and soaking up the moments that mattered most.

He was a loving grandfather to four treasured grandchildren.

Rick will be remembered for his humor, his steady presence, his love for his family and the lives they are building.
