NYHAN, Richard J. "Dick" Of Brookline, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the age of 67. He bravely fought lymphoma for over 16 years. Dick was born March 9, 1944 in Brookline, graduated Brookline High School in 1962 and served in the United States Coast Guard from 1964-1968. Dick later taught computer skills to veterans through The Veterans Upward Bound Program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. He proudly celebrated 26 years of sobriety this year. Dick was the son of the late John Joseph Nyhan and Rita J. Nyhan of Brookline and brother of Linda Pownall (married to Ronald Pownall of Tucson, AZ) and the late Paul Nyhan of Humarock (late husband of Helen Nyhan of Humarock.) He is survived by his daughter Heather Nyhan of Ashland, son Michael Nyhan of Skowhegan, Maine and his grandchildren Dejia, Erasmo and Gabriel, of Ashland. A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 30 at 10 A.M. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Brookline. A reception will follow at the Stephen F. Rutledge V.F.W. Post 864 in Brookline. Private burial at a later date to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Needham.
