Obituary

Robert Joseph Ferreira, lovingly known as Bob, age 83, of Plymouth, MA, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family.

Born on October 9, 1941, in Plymouth, MA, Bob was the son of the late Genevieve Souza Bresnahan and Antone Ferreira.

Bob worked for many years as a printer at Halliday Lithograph, held various positions in retail, and was best known for teaching speed skating at Marshfield Family Skateland — a place close to his heart. He was deeply involved in his community, often volunteering his time, particularly in support of veterans.

He was a proud member of several organizations, including the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in Plymouth, MA, where he served as Exalted Ruler, and the American Legion Post 40, where he was Commander of the Sons of the American Legion (S.A.L.). He was also a member of the Upland Sportsman's Club in Plympton, MA.

Bob had a deep love for sports and was an enthusiastic fan of all New England teams. He was an avid roller-skater and played on a roller hockey team. He also enjoyed bowling, cribbage (competing in various leagues), and karaoke — where his strong singing voice left a lasting impression.

Above all, Bob loved and cherished his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Kathryn Ferreira of Plymouth, MA; his brother Stanley Ferreira and wife Priscilla Ferreira of Middleborough, MA; his sister Debra Maxim and husband Dana Maxim of Plymouth, MA; his daughter Janice Ferreira Hodges of Plymouth, MA; his son Robert Ferreira and wife Heather Ferreira of Carver, MA; his step-son Robert Matice and wife Donna Matice of Mansfield, MA; step-son Michael Hardimon and wife Julie Hardimon of North Carolina; and step-daughter Sandra Clifford and husband Francis Clifford of Plymouth, MA.

He is also survived by four grandsons, one step-grandson, two step-granddaughters, three great- grandsons (with one more on the way), two step-great-grandsons, and one great-granddaughter. He leaves behind two nephews and their significant others, five nieces and their significant others, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother Roger Ferreira, his brother Carl Bresnahan, and his nephew Shawn Martin.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the American Legion Post 40, 199 Federal Furnace Rd., Plymouth, MA. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend.

When you think of Bob, please remember him with a smile — and the laughter he brought wherever he went. "What a Wonderful World."
