Hanson, MA - Robert Edward Leahy, 78, passed away March
16th, 2022 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's and Dementia.
He was born in Boston, MA to the late Robert and Phyllis
Leahy.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Leahy of Hanson, MA, son
Shawn Leahy and his wife Kimberly of Sagamore Beach, MA,
daughter Christine Leahy and grandson Fenway Worthing, both
of Key West, FL, brother James Leahy, and sisters Joyce
Dennehy and Kathleen Lydon. Preceding him in death were
brothers, Richard Leahy and John Leahy.
Bob began life in South Boston, the oldest of 6 children,
before relocating to a neighborhood community in Braintree MA,
where he went to school and made many friends.
He later enlisted in the Air Force where he serviced and
maintained aircraft at Hamilton Air Force Base in CA. After his
Honorable discharge, he returned to Massachusetts and worked
at the Quincy Shipyard for a short time before joining his father
and brothers as an electrician in Local #103.
Bob worked many years as an Electrician for Local #103. He
worked construction in many buildings in downtown Boston,
before joining the MBTA where he finished his career.
Bob met his wife Susan upon returning from the service to
Massachusetts, and settled in Pembroke MA where they raised
Shawn and Christine. Later they moved to a small farm in
Hanson MA, as a lifelong passion of Bob's to live the farm life.
He loved his Golden Retrievers, and taking them for walks on
the beach or at the local Bogs. He was also an auto enthusiast
that enjoyed working on cars, and going to shows and swap
meets.
He will be missed by all.
Interment will take place Friday, March 25th at 10:00am at the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Ave, Bourne.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the
Alzheimer's Association.
