Obituary

Robert John McKinnon, Sr. – 85, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Golden Living Center in Cohasset, Saturday morning, November 16. Bob was the beloved and devoted husband of Helen Bailer McKinnon, beloved father of Denise McKinnon Brillon Coll of Raymond, NH and Robert J. McKinnon, Jr. of Marshfield, MA. Loving Papa to grandson Branden Brillon and his wife Amy Brillon of Salem, MA and granddaughters, Monet, Azaria and Aleera McKinnon of Marshfield, MA. Loving father-in-law to Arthur Coll of Raymond, NH, Noel McKinnon of Marshfield, MA and Don Brillon of Bridgewater, MA. Loving brother to Nicholas McKinnon of Marshfield, MA, Louis McKinnon of Ossipee, NH and Richard McKinnon of Weymouth, MA. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Bob served in the Merchant Marines and in the Army in World War II in Germany. He worked for the Town of Weymouth until he retired then went on to work for the MDC and retired, always a hard worker with a good heart, he always had time to listen or help anyone. He also was a past Park Commissioner and Public Works Commissioner in Weymouth. A true "townie," he loved Weymouth. He always had a smile, stories and jokes to tell – a special, loving way about him that shone through when you saw and talked to him. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, especially when he spent time with his family at his cabin and land in Sutton, NH. Bob's wishes were for you to celebrate his life, not mourn it, and live every day to its fullest. There will be a Celebration of Life service at a later date in the Spring. "I caught myself smiling for no reason, then I realized I was thinking of you. You were loved, you are loved, you will always be loved." Cremation was under the direction of the Bartlett Funeral Home in Plymouth, MA Family and friends are welcome to make a memorial donation honoring Bob to the Golden Living Center, 1 Chief Justice Cushing Highway, Cohasset, MA 02025
