Obituary

Robert Scott Wilbur, affectionately known as Bo to his friends and lovingly as "Bobby" or "Boppy" to his grandchildren, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, at his home in Centerville, Massachusetts, surrounded by loved ones. He was 69 years old.

Bob was born on May 24, 1956, in Taunton, where he spent most of his life before moving to the Cape.

Bob was a graduate of Taunton High School where he wore #60 on the football team. He earned an accounting degree from Johnson & Wales University and later completed his MBA in Finance at the University of Rhode Island. He enjoyed a long and respected career in business, where he worked at SPACE Metal Buildings and later as a financial advisor. For the final 25 years of his professional life, he served as Chief Financial Officer at E.W. Audet & Sons in Providence, Rhode Island.

Bob cherished time spent with his grandchildren and took great joy in being with his family. Some of his happiest moments were spent at Craigville Beach, gathered with loved ones for family cookouts, and simply enjoying time with the people he loved. Prior to moving to Centerville, he and Paula enjoyed trips to the Cape and visits to St. Croix. A lifelong sports fan, Bob followed Boston teams and the Baltimore Ravens. He enjoyed watching and attending their games. He also loved golfing and his morning cups of coffee, particularly when shared with family and friends. These moments brought him both laughter and lasting memories.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Paula Wilbur (née Marshall), his two sons and their families. Adam Wilbur and his wife Suzanne live in Boylston, Massachusetts, with their children, Henry and Ruth. Mark Wilbur and his wife Antonia reside in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, with their daughters, Joanna and Maria.

Bob is also survived by his parents, Robert and Esther Wilbur of Centerville; his sister, Robyn Patterson of Surry, Maine; his uncle, Joseph DeCosta; his cousins, Eric DeCosta and Joey Tryon; his nieces; and his lifelong friends, Tom "Ace" Piesco and Peter Nunes, who were a source of many laughs and support.

He was predeceased by his brother, Jeffrey Wilbur. Bob was also predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary DeCosta, with whom he shared a close and loving bond that remained important to him throughout his life.

Bob and Paula are eternally grateful to his entire medical team for their guidance and care-especially Dr. David Kwiatkowski and Dr. Michael Campbell. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute or the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod.
