Obituary

Ronald Henry Sirch June 20, 1933 - March 29, 2026

Ronald Henry Sirch passed away peacefully at his home on Cape Cod, overlooking Long Pond, with his devoted wife Judie and loving daughters by his side.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, to Charles and Emelia Forste Sirch, Ron was raised in Wantagh, Long Island. After high school he proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the submarine USS Tirante (SS-420). Those years at sea remained among the proudest of his life; he recounted them with fondness for decades afterward.

He went on to earn a B.S. in Management Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where he served as president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and formed lifelong friendships. While at RPI he met the love of his life, Judie Chase, who was attending the nursing school just across the street. Their meeting sparked a beautiful love story that would last more than sixty-three years.

Ron and Judie married and built a warm, happy home in Garden City, New York, raising their daughters Saunie and Melanie. A dedicated husband and father, Ron filled their lives with laughter, adventure, and treasured family memories. He was, in every sense, a gem.

He achieved a distinguished thirty-year career with New York Telephone and AT&T, rising through the ranks to serve as Corporate Safety Director for 90,000 employees and Corporate OSHA Liaison. While working full-time he earned his MBA in International Business from Pace University. Later, he was selected to open NYNEX's Washington, D.C. office as Executive Director of Federal Regulatory Matters, representing the company before the FCC.

Upon retirement, Ron and Judie found their dream home on Cape Cod. There, "Captain Ron" could often be found at the helm of their pontoon boat on Long Pond. With Jimmy Buffett tunes, Rusty Nails and Champagne, he welcomed family and friends aboard for sunset cruises filled with stories, laughter, and pure joy. Warm, witty, and endlessly welcoming, Ron made everyone feel at home.

He is survived by his beloved wife Judie; daughters Saunie and Melanie; stepson Todd Jasmin; and grandson Hayden Sirch Smith, a cadet at Norwich University who carries forward his grandfather's proud military legacy. Ron was predeceased by his sister Joanne Schneider. He leaves behind his sister Barbara Holloway, with whom he shared a lifelong bond, his nephew Michael Metz, and many nieces and nephews who always brought him so much happiness at family gatherings.

Services will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on Monday, June 22 at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United States Submarine Veterans Charitable Foundation, ussvcf.org, the Hospice Foundation of America, hospicefoundation.org, or to any cause close to your heart in Ron's memory.

Sail on, Captain Ron. Your gentle spirit, quick wit, and open heart will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered forever.
