Silvia Gremlich (née Maissen)
July 13,1942 - September 23, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Silvia Gremlich, née Maissen, who departed this world peacefully on September 23, 2026. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, caring, and memories that will be treasured by all who knew her. Born in Chur, Switzerland, Silvia was a force of nature in a petite body. Her life was marked by the loss of her mother at an early age; a sorrow she carried with her throughout her life.
Silvia is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Edouard, daughters Beatrice (Pat Armstrong) and Sandy, her grandson Shane, and his father Sean Noonan, her sisters Rosli Waldvogel and Alice Arpagaus, her brother Hansjoerg Maissen, and beloved nieces, nephews and extended family across the globe.
Silvia and Eddy built a big, beautiful life together, centered on family, love, and devotion to one another. Eddy's career in the hospitality industry took the family across Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, Australia, and Hawaii. Through every move, Silvia was an incredible mother to their daughters, managing the detailed arrangements required to relocate the family-and their pets-to each new home in a foreign land. She was Eddy's right hand and could often be found on his arm at business events charming clients with her wit, humor, and exceptional dancing skills. Her favorite expressions were that there be "no chunk!" when buying gifts; and struggling through adversity, or a bad hand at the card game Oh Hell, can be "the shitty pits."
No matter where she found herself, Silvia was always the life of the party. She had an infectious laugh, loved to wear bright colors, and always found a way to get into good trouble with a twinkle in her eye. Her family remained her greatest joy.
Her love of nature was evident in the beautiful flower gardens that adorned her yards. She took immense pride in her gardening, creating vibrant displays that reflected her colorful personality.
Silvia loved all animals, adopting dogs and cats throughout her life and making sure the wildlife in her yard was always well fed.
Silvia was the Queen of Special Occasions. She shopped throughout the year to find the perfect gifts for birthdays and holidays, and baked highly anticipated goodies made with love, even those "pain in the neck" extra thin sugar cookies.
Silvia faced Parkinson's disease with courage and determination. Her perseverance reflected the strength and love she showed throughout her life. If you would like to remember Silvia in a meaningful way, please consider donating in her name to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research (give.michaeljfox.org) or MSPCA-Angel (support.mspca.org).
She is deeply loved and will be forever missed and remembered. As Silvia said every night when putting her daughters to bed "I love you, God bless you, sweet dreams, good night." Now we lovingly say this one last time to you, our beautiful Silvia. You were truly one of a kind.
The family will celebrate Silvia's extraordinary life on October 20 th on Cape Cod. Please contact the family for specifics.
