Susan B. Barton

May 13, 1954 – August 31, 2025

Susan Barton, 71, of Middleboro, MA, passed away peacefully at her home on August 31, after a long health journey. She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Barton and Barbara Barton (Keay).

Born in Nashua, NH, Susan graduated from Sharon High School in 1972 and went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy from Simmons College in Boston in 1976. She dedicated 40 years to providing compassionate home care physical therapy before retiring in 2017.

In 1983, Susan married Frank Penacho, and together they built their home and life in Middleboro.

Susan found joy in gardening, decorating for the seasons, traveling—especially to her beloved Maine—and always keeping a canine companion by her side. She had a love for lighthouses, birds of all kinds, and making her famous peanut butter fudge. Known for her warm heart and open door, she became a "second mother" to many of her children's friends over the years.

She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Frank; her mother, Barbara Barton; her brother Lawrence Barton and his wife Karen; her daughters Lindsay Penacho, Angela Moeung (Penacho) and her husband Savy, and Stacey Bradley (Penacho) and her husband Milton. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Joshua, Quinn, and Zoey, along with several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A celebration of Susan's life will be held on Friday, October 17th at the Loon Pond Lodge located at 28 Precinct Street in Lakeville from 4pm to 8pm. The family invites everyone to share their favorite memory of Susan, as we gather to celebrate her life in the way she wished — with love, laughter, and cherished stories.
