IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan Q
Miraglia
September 8, 1946 – October 2, 2024
Susan Quinn Miraglia, passed away on October 2, 2024, with family at her side at the age of 78 in Plymouth, MA. She was born on September 8, 1946, in Millville NJ, the first of four daughters to the late George and Jean Quinn.
Sue graduated from Villanova University with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing. She served her country as a Navy nurse. Her first duty station was at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital, treating the severely wounded soldiers airlifted from Vietnam. Her second tour of duty was in Obstetrics at the Portsmouth NH Naval Hospital where she served together with her husband Paul and earned the rank of Lt. Commander. Upon discharge in 1974, she and her husband Paul sailed the eastern seaboard together and by chance made a port of call at Plymouth harbor. Sue was immediately taken by Plymouth's charm. They found their way back and planted their roots there in 1976. Sue continued practicing nursing in maternity and raised a family of three boys with Paul. She went back to school and obtained a masters degree in nursing from UMass Boston. She went on to teach nursing as a professor at Quincy College and Massasiot for 25 years. She loved bringing babies into the world just as much as she loved cultivating the next generation of nurses.
Sue had a full and active life, with as many pursuits as there were friends and loved ones with whom to share them. She enjoyed spending time with her social network of friends on the golf course, pickle ball court, book club, weekly coffee, and celebrating birthdays. She loved gardening, hiking, skiing, tennis, sewing, puzzles, shopping, and reading. She enjoyed visiting her happy places with family at the Jersey Shore, the white mountains of New Hampshire, and the waters of Cape Cod bay. She was a master of the kitchen and cooked gourmet meals from scratch for friends and family. She was an active part of her grandchildren's lives and relished her time with them.
Sue is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Dr. Paul Miraglia; her children, Peter (Mary Jane) Miraglia, Paul (Suzanne) Miraglia, and Michael (Rodrigo Hernandez) Miraglia; her five grandchildren Anna, Giuliana, Paul, Francesca, and Alexia Miraglia; her sister Jeanie (George) Williams and MaryAnne Porter; her brother-in-laws Julian (Betsy) Miraglia and Vincent (Billye) Miraglia, sister-in-law Cathe Lecky; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements will be under the care of the Bartlett Funeral Home, 338 Court Street, Plymouth. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, October 20, from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM.
Sue's legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched as an educator, community member, friend, and devoted family member. Her kindness, strength, leadership, and compassion will continue to inspire all who knew her.
