Tasman Francis, 68 years old, affectionately known by friends and relatives as Tallman, to his children and grandchildren, daddy, grandfather and papa. Tasman wasborn on May 15, 1957 to Claudius and Winnifred Francis (Anderson) in Greenhill, Glengoffe; St. Catherine, Jamaica. He is the third (3rd ) of seven (7) children to Claudius and Winnifred.
Tasman began his education at Mount Industry Primary School in Jamaica and later transferred to Gratefull Hill Primary in Jamaica. He left Glengoffe, St. Catherine,Jamaica at the age of fifteen (15) and went to live with his Aunt at East Avenue,Greenwich Town, Kingston, Jamaica, which she introduced him to Mr. Rupert who owned and operated an Autobody Repair Garage at James and North Street,Kingston.Tasman started learning the trade of Autobody repair. Mr. Rupert later moved to Gold Street, Kingston, Jamaica were Tasman started to worked for him until1990.
Tasman met his virtuous woman Marcia, in December 1977 and they later got married in June 1979. The union produced three (3) children; Leon, Debra-Ann (Tanisha) and Marvin. His children gave him ten (10) grandchildren and one (1) great grandchild.
Tasman spent his entire life working in the Auto Repairs Business. He operated and owned his first garage in 1990. During this time, he subcontracted jobs from Grace Kennedy International, Jamaica, while working for other high prominent business clients. While operating his businesses, he taught many young men who had an interest in learning and developing their skills in Auto Body Repairs. Tasman later ventured into other business investments, which he would later own. Let’s just say he was a “successful businessman”.
In 2012, Tasman surrendered and gave his life to God and received his water baptism at Hope Temple Pentecostal Church of God , under the leadership of Bishop Donald and Minister Daphne Walters in Waterford, Portmore, St.Catherine, Jamaica. Soon after this in the year 2013, Tasman was diagnosed with throat cancer which he received treatment and later in that year he retired from all his active work in Jamaica.In 2014, Tasman and Marcia migrated to the United States, to the island of Nantucket,within that period he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.
Tasman loved his wife Marcia, his children, grandchildren and his relatives. He would always offer assistance as long as he was able to. He loved his trade, his work and his music. He was a very hardworking individual who displayed strong work ethics in the standard of life, respect for others and above all he was a no- nonsense person. He observed more and spoke less, but when he smiled or laughed, the entire atmosphere would change.
Tasman and Marcia along with their daughter, husband and her children moved to the Cape in West Yarmouth in March 2024. He attended the Newlife Ministries International Church in Marstons Mills which he found delight in and loved attending the sessions whenever he got the chance to.
On December 8, 2025, Tasman took sick and was admitted to hospital, despite the treatment he received, he wanted to be home with his family, he came home on Dec.25th and later died restfully and peacefully at home in West Yarmouth on Dec. 31,2025.
Tasman is survived by his wife, Marcia, children: Leon, Tanisha and Marvin, 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, Mother; Winnifred Francis, 4 brothers, 2 sisters,nieces , nephews and other relatives and friends.
Tasman Funeral service will be held to honour him on the 24th of January 2026 at 11am. The location for the service will be at New Life Ministries International, 2135 Main Street, Marston Mills, MA, 02648.
