Toshie was born in Yokohama, Japan in 1942. She is survived in the US by her husband, Tom, sister in law Martha Collier and many beloved nieces and nephews. In Japan she is survived by her sister Junko and brother in law Yasumasa, as well as nephews and their families. She also had a network of wonderful friends.

Toshie was trained as a hairdresser in Japan and worked in Yokohama and Tokyo. In 1972 she had the courage to move to Massachusetts to begin a new life with Tom. For many years she worked as a hairdresser in Boston before opening her own successful business in Framingham. Her clients became friends and she heard from a number of them even long after retiring. She was a lifelong dog lover and regretted not having a furry companion in recent years.

Flowers were a lifelong passion. Toshie loved planning and working in her garden as long as her health allowed. She was also a student of the Ohara School of Ikebana and practiced for many years. She was proud to have earned an instructor's license.
