Obituary

Vera Margareta (Gronvall) Ross died peacefully Dec.12, 2011 at the home of her daughter in Plymouth, where she had lived for the last five years. She was born in Goteborg, Sweden, in 1919, and emigrated to America in 1927 via Ellis Island with her parents John Emil and Klara Elvira Gronvall, and her younger brother Fred Leif Gronvall. She was raised and educated in Quincy schools graduating from Quincy High School in 1938. She attended Bridgewater State Teachers College and The Burdett School of Business. During World War II, she was employed at Fore River Shipyard while her husband was serving in the Navy. She later worked in real estate and in the retail business and had been a member of Fort Square Presbyterian Church in Quincy Vera was an elegant and incredibly kind person who was extremely devoted to her family. She was a caregiver to several family members and greatly enriched the lives of everyone she touched. Vera was the beloved wife of the late Charles John Ross, to whom she was married for more than 63 years. She was also a devoted mother to her three daughters, Patricia Reinstein and her husband Fred of Los Angeles, CA, Marilyn Khouri and her husband Mitchell of Hanover, and Cheryl Parson and her husband William of Plymouth. She was a loving grandmother to Michael Alan Reinstein, David Reinstein and his wife Melody, Damon Khouri and his wife Kristin, Kimberly Ann Khouri and Kristen, William Jr. and Kayla Parson. Vera was also blessed with five great-grandchildren- James and Lila Reinstein, Ava and Vera Khouri and Ashley Haran Her warm-hearted wisdom and gentle sense of humor will be profoundly missed. A private family service was held in Plymouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bridgewater State University Foundation with a memo to The Ross/ Reinstein Scholarship Fund, which is awarded each year to a Quincy student, 131 Summer St., Bridgewater, MA 02324.
