Obituary

Victor Marc Higgins, 74, a lifelong resident of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and retired Lieutenant of the Plymouth Police Department, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Plymouth on November 28, 1951, Victor was the son of the late Kenwood Prescott Higgins and Malvina Mary Johanna (Furtado) Higgins. He took great pride in his hometown and lived a life defined by service, dedication, and devotion to his family and community.

Victor dedicated more than 40 years of his life to law enforcement and public service. He began his career with the Plymouth Police Department, where he faithfully served the residents of Plymouth for four decades. While building his career and serving his community, he pursued higher education and earned his bachelor's degree from Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. He later retired as Lieutenant of the Prosecution Department. Throughout his career, he was known for his professionalism, integrity, and unwavering commitment to duty, earning the respect of colleagues and community members alike.

Beyond his service as a police officer, Victor had a deep love for baseball and the young people of Plymouth. For more than 20 years, he coached Plymouth Youth Baseball, sharing not only his knowledge of the game but also the values of teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and perseverance. Generations of young players benefited from his guidance, encouragement, and steady presence both on and off the field.Above all else, Victor was devoted to his family. He was the beloved husband of Lauren E. Higgins and a proud father of Victor M. Higgins II (Liz), Kevin J. Higgins (Erin), and Michael W. Higgins (Amanda). He was also the brother of Victor Garrard. He was a loving father, grandfather, friend, coach, and dedicated public servant whose guidance, loyalty, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Victor was especially proud of his nine grandchildren: Brandon, Aiden, Carmen, Jack, and Lillian; Evelyn and Juliet; and Lucas and Madison. He took great joy in watching them grow and was deeply invested in their futures, always encouraging the values of hard work, education, and family.

Victor enjoyed staying connected to his family, caring for his home, and ensuring that those he loved were provided for. He approached life with a sense of responsibility, practicality, and dedication that defined both his career and his personal life. His family will remember him for his strength, his generosity, his commitment to those he loved, and the example he set through a lifetime of service.
