IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Virginia Pearl
Jurentkuff
April 11, 1932 – November 16, 2025
Falmouth, MA-- Virginia Pearl Jurentkuff, 93, of Falmouth, MA and formerly of Rowe, MA passed away peacefully at home on November 16, 2025 with her loving family by her side.
Pearl is survived by her husband, Karl Elsar Jurentkuff, having just celebrated 72 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Upton, MA, she became a secretary at Draper Corporation of Hopedale, MA after graduating from high school. Karl and Pearl were married in Upton in 1932 and moved to Worcester, MA where they resided for several years until Karl fulfilled his duties in the Navy. He soon took a job in Rowe, MA at the Yankee Rowe Nuclear Power Station. Pearl quickly became active in the small community becoming the organist and choir director at the Rowe Community Church which she continued to perform for over 30 years. She also brought back Rowe Old Home Day serving as chairperson for many years as well as creating the strawberry shortcake booth at the event, which became a town favorite. For many years she also drove a school bus in the town and assisted with the production of the Rowe Goal Post (the monthly town newspaper). She was also instrumental in organizing local pot luck dinners and was on the committee for the town's Bicentennial Celebration.
Living in small communities like Rowe and neighboring town Heath, the townspeople became like family. She and Karl felt very fortunate to have so many wonderful friends.
For many years Pearl and her family cherished their vacations at the family cottage on Cape Cod in East Falmouth on Green Pond. That love of the sea and Falmouth led her and Karl to retire there in 2003. She loved being by the ocean, especially walking along the beach searching for shells and washed glass as evidenced by the jars full located in various areas around the house. The gardens around the house reflected her love of gardening but her greatest joy was hosting her family and friends for countless get togethers and holiday celebrations. Pearl will be remembered for her smile, warmth, hospitality and the unconditional love she showed to everyone she met.
Upon their retirement to Falmouth they joined the John Wesley Methodist Church and were active members for many years until they could no longer physically attend. They then enjoyed watching the services online. She especially loved it when they would play the organ that the church had recently purchased.
Pearl was a devoted mother to her three children, Stephen Jurentkuff (predeceased) and his wife Kathy (Ward) Jurentkuff, of Buckland, MA, Mark Jurentkuff and his husband George Fitzgerald (predeceased) of Eastham, MA, and Nina Murphy and her husband Colin Murphy (predeceased) of East Falmouth.
She is survived by her adoring grandchildren, Jared (JD) Jurentkuff and his wife Melissa (Arevalo) Jurentkuff, Melissa Jurentkuff and her companion Kal Phanavong, Emily (Jurentkuff) Raupp, Laurie (Murphy) Gatchell and her husband Eric Gatchell, Andrew Murphy and his fiancee Hannah Leddie. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Emerson and Carmen Jurentkuff and Grace and Claire Gatchell. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Jurentkuff and his wife Judy Jurentkuff from Derry, New Hampshire and many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Pearl was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by her entire family and all who knew her. As matriarch of the family for many years, her absence is immeasurable.
A memorial service is being planned for a future date.
