Virginia (Janse) Rovzar, who once served on the board of directors of the Riverview School, died July 11 after a short stay at the Cape Heritage Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Sandwich. She was 90. Born in Newton, she was the daughter of John A. Janse and Dorothy S. Johnson. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in Newton and received a bachelor of arts degree from Seton Hill College in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, in 1946. She summered on Cape Cod in the New Silver Beach section of Falmouth, where she met US Army Captain Robert R. Rovzar of Mexico City, Mexico, while he was stationed at Camp Edwards. They were married in June 1946 and after a brief stay in Wisconsin settled in Attleboro, where they lived until Mr. Rovzar's death in 2009. Ms. Rovzar moved to Thirwood Place in South Yarmouth in August 2013. In Attleboro her social life largely revolved around Highland Country Club, where she was the women's club champion seven times. She enjoyed traveling, often joining her husband on the tail end of his international business trips. She was also a voracious reader. In the 1960s she served on the board of directors of the Riverview School in Sandwich, founded in 1957 by her brother, William Janse. Today the school serves approximately 180 students ages 11 to 22 with language, learning and intellectual disabilities from 20 states and seven foreign countries. Ms. Rovzar enjoyed the outdoors and had been a member of Mass Audubon since 1957. She was also a member of the Massachusetts Archeological Society and participated in a number of site excavations in the 1980s. She leaves two sons, Mark Rovzar and his wife, Judy Rovzar, of West Barnstable, and Roderick Rovzar of East Stoneham, Maine; four grandsons; and a great-granddaughter. She was to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery next to her husband.
