Obituary

William L. Basinski of Plymouth, Massachusetts, passed away on Tuesday, May 19th 2015 at the age of 62. He was born to Leonard and Agnes Basinski on July 12, 1953 in Plymouth, MA. "Billy, or "Ballsy", as he was affectionately known by his friends, attended Plymouth Carver High School and soon after graduation began his travels and escapades in various parts of the world. Pushing the limits and being his own person were only two of his many hobbies, followed closely by collecting antiques, clamming and fixing anything with a moving part. He worked for many years as a swordfisherman and lobsterman and passed on his love for the water to his surviving daughter, Beth Basinski. Billy is also survived by Robin Noel who was by his side for over 33 years and took tireless care of him during his 3 year battle with cancer. In addition, Billy is survived by his; father Leonard Basinski, mother Agnes Basinski, brother Arthur Basinski, sister Jean Basinski, nephew Zachary Basinski and niece Brittany Basinski. As per his request, Billy will be cremated and his ashes will return to the sea. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 from 5pm to 9pm at the American Legion Post 40 on Federal Furnace Road. Please bring memories to share, stories to tell, laughter and good spirits as we remember a truly loved father, husband and friend. His family kindly asks that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society, the Beth Israel Deaconess Cancer Center or the Cranberry Hospice to help support the research and treatment of cancer as well as the invaluable care provided by hospice services.
